The visitor economy sector in Devon generates over £2.3 billion annually in visitor spend, supporting over 50,000 jobs, which accounts for approximately 9% of all employment in the county. Each year, we record 23.4 million staying visitor nights (including both international and UK visitors) and 23.9 million day visits, generating £944 million in spend. The sector supports nearly 5,000 businesses.
Tourism is crucial to the economy and prosperity of Devon. Visit Devon CIC is working with other key partners within Devon on developing the newly Visit Britain accredited Local Visitor Economy Partnership, making it the county’s leading destination management organisation, representing and promoting Devon at local, regional, national, and international levels, with the aim of making Devon the place to visit.
