Why Enter?

Here is what some recent winners say:

"Many thanks for the feedback, we weren't expecting such detail so this is a great help, especially being so new to the tourism industry. We have already started implementing this and hope to have addressed all of the suggestions over the coming year. The awards night was a brilliant experience and we are so grateful that our efforts have been recognised. We will most certainly be entering again with a view to going for gold!"

Kieran Fisher, Ravendere Retreats, Dec 19

"The awards have been really good for us over the past ten years - bench marking, training, insipiration, affirmation and the occasional 'kick up the backside' to think differently about things, or to take on more challenges."

Maggie, Wheatland Farm, Dec 19

"Winning the prestigious Gold accolade for Holiday Park of the Year at the Devon Tourism Awards has been a highlight of our season. After previously being awarded both the Bronze & Silver status, after our recent improvements & positive customer feedback we felt ready to go for Gold.  The awards ceremony itself is a fabulous celebration of Tourism within the South West which offers both a superb networking opportunity plus a chance to sit back and be proud of our achievements within the tourism industry. The scheme also offers invaluable evaluation from an experienced panel of judges which is crucial in highlighting potential opportunities for development. Having now been highlighted as a 'True leader of Holiday Parks in the South West, our next challenge is within the SW Tourism awards - we can't wait to be inspired by more like-minded businesses throughout the region as together we celebrate more success stories within our industry."

Carla Newman, Marketing & Events Manager,Ladram Bay Holiday Park, Dec 19

"It’s brilliant!! Having never entered anything like this before it gave me such a boost to be recognised for our efforts.   Everything about the awards was perfect."

Anon, Survey Monkey, Feb 19

"The awards entry process was a huge learning curve -foe example we found that we didn’t have an Accessibility Statement which we should have so that took quite a long time but was very beneficial for our knowledge. We also found that the process allows you to really stop, check and think about how you are managing your business.  Do leave a lot of time in order to complete the entry process. It requires thought and motivation however we found the whole experience extremely helpful. Winning a bronze in Self Catering Property of the Year and the special Gold Customer Service Superstar was worth it!"

Helen, The Folletts at Beer, Dec 18

"Hi Nell, Robin and your team of lovely judges/inspectors/tweeters

Wow thank you, gosh I feel appreciated! What kind words and helpful ideas. You’ve made my day (again!) :)"

Tracey, The Old Kennels, Nov 18

"Many thanks for the video you sent through,  it is amazing and really captures the buzz of excitement witnessed on the awards evening - what a great chance to re live those moments and to share the excitement with Devon Yurt's online audience.  I will proudly post it on our facebook page this afternoon :). Also a big thank you for the feedback, it was our first time entering the Devon Tourism awards scheme and we have both gained and learnt so much from it,  we would be very interested in attending any events you may run which could help us to further improve in the future. The awards process has certainly left us in a very strong position and has pointed us towards things we can still further improve on, our work here at Devon Yurt is close to our hearts and a true labour of love, we aim for perfection and each year we have fine tuned our business to achieve that, being in the awards process this year has give us the opportunity to push ourselves even further and we thank you very much for that."

Julia, Devon Yurt, Nov 18

"We entered the awards for lots of reasons, you can never stay still and the market is constantly evolving, this is a great way for us to test if were are delivering everything we should be at the highest possible level. Its also a great motivational goal for the team to be recognised and potentially attend an awards ceremony at the end the season.  The rewards are really what you make them, its great for the team to know they are doing a great job and its motivating to continue and get bigger and better, the impact on the business is down to how we market the success, we know that this award gives our brand integrity and as there is so much choice in the market place for accommodation providers, a respected and trusted logo on our marketing is priceless.  The most significant reward we have seen since winning a Gold in the International Visitor Experience category was to be approached by a Golf Tour Operator who has identified us a partner to work with as an accommodation provider for their European clients outside of the core season."

Kathy, Westward Living, Jan 18

"Do start thinking about your application early as it takes a lot of thought, involve as many of your team as possible in the brainstorming process.  Enjoy it, and see this as an opportunity to grow your business - it enhances what you do well and makes you evaluate what could be improved, its like revisiting your business plan.  If your lucky enough to get to the ceremony its such a great night regardless of where you are placed."

Kathy, Ocean Kave Jan 18
